Monochromatic Paintings!!

Students were asked to take a grey scale photograph and create a monochromatic complementary painting. The subject matter could be an animal or a self portrait. Most students went with an Animal. I was very surprised by the amazing talent among 7th grade when it comes to painting with Acrylic. I was also very surprised by the amazing amounts of paint I went through with this project. More than anything else - I really challenged the students to look at the color relationships and the transitions between light and shadow.
